Grandma's Applesauce

Um mm, the smell of  Sylvia's applesauce simmering on the stove brings me back to childhood.  My mom use to make delicious, chunky applesauce in this huge stainless steel pot just like this.  Thanks to Grandma Sylvia, Linnea and I learned how to make it today.  We helped peel apples, put apples in the pot and add the special ingredients.  Linnea sprinkled in the cinnamon.  It was much easier than I thought, so now I can make it.

Sylvia's Applesauce:

Ingredients:

Golden Delicious Apples peeled and cut in medium to large pieces
honey
cinnamon
nutmeg
vanilla
lemon juice

Simmer apple pieces with a small amount of water
Add about a teaspoon of vanilla and lemon juice
Sprinkle in cinnamon and nutmeg
Stir in some honey until your desired sweetness
Simmer all the ingredients for 10 minutes

Serve as is, or with ice cream, plain yogurt or half and half.

Thanks for visiting us Sylvia!  We are so blessed to have you.

We love you Grandma!
