It's hard to believe Sofia has been with us for 4 weeks! She is still doing just great. Sofia is sleeping like a champ and has even gone as long as 5 hours a couple times. I've been laying Sofia on her tummy a few times a day. She'll tolerate it for a few minutes before she spits up and cries. She much prefers to be upright. So far, she it not too fond of the infant seat. She likes to be held and cuddled, which we don't mind doing. Sofia has been out in the world a lot more than Linnea was at this age. In the past week, I have ventured out with the girls by myself several times. It helps that I don't mind nursing in public with my stylish nursing cover! I took the girls on a walk around Greenlake using the huge double stroller we have now. As Mom put it, "It like pushing a small car!" We went to a toddler library program where kids get to play with blocks, puzzles, playdoh, do art and have circle time. Linnea loves it and Mikki and Andy joined us. I took the girls to get their passport photos taken for our trip to Europe for Becky and Jens' wedding. It's pretty weird to get an infant's photo for a passport considering that she won't look like this in a few months. Sofia's photo turned out really cute. It's challenging to get a infant with their eyes open for photo. I was sure to take her there right after her nap and little hungry so she'd be awake. Don't worry, she didn't have to wait too long to eat! She it still quite the sleepy head and sometimes just plain refuses to wake up to eat.
I have been reminded a lot lately of the blessing I have and to appreciate all the people in my life every day. A childhood classmate of Hailey's died over a week ago when she was hit by a car. The driver had fallen asleep. She had a husband, two little boys and was expecting a baby girl. Lisa, was a strong believer in Jesus and was active at her church. I am so shocked and sad that this happened to such a young woman. I've been praying for Lisa, her family and friends, knowing it must be so difficult right now. After sharing her story with Tom and Syl, Tom suggested I read a book called Heaven is for Real. It is an amazing story about a sick little boy who goes to heaven and comes back to life. He meets and is comforted by Jesus, along with many other people. You have to read this book! It is uplifting and helped me think about heaven in a way I've never done before. It comforted me to remember that Lisa is with Jesus and that He will not leave her family in this crisis. I am motivated and eager to live my life like it could be the last, loving my kids, Nathan, family and my friends. And when it is my time to go, heaven sounds amazing!!! But, God, I really hope to be here a lot longer, Amen.
