We did it! We took our 18 day old daughter and 2 1/2 year old on our first family trip. It only took 5 hours to drive to Puget Island. Not too bad, just an hour and half more than usual. As you know, Puget Island is so dear to us, and it was so much fun to take Sofia there for the first time. We did the usual, played on the beach, ate amazing food prepared by Nathan (salmon, steak fajitas and breaded BBQ oysters), napped, read books, went on walks and enjoyed each other company. Bethany and Luke joined us. They are such amazing people and we are so glad that Luke married Bethany. Linnea adores them and quickly warmed up to them. We haven't seen them since Christmas. Bethany read books to Linnea and held Sofia a lot. It was nice to have so much help. I got a couple naps in and just felt so happy and relaxed. Tom and Sylvia joined us too. They are such positive, fun people to vacation with. Sylvia always has something yummy for us to eat.
A day before we left I was worrying about sitting in the trailor for 3 days while it rained and rained. The forecast wasn't so good, but it ended up being mostly sunny on Saturday and Monday. Nathan even got a little burn. He was working hard the whole time. He was working on stacking the cedar logs he bought for the new cabin so they would dry out and not rot. He has big plans for these logs. Stay tuned for what actually happens to them. Last Wednesday, he and Phil, drove these logs all the way to Puget Island to drop off and then back to Seattle in one night. He didn't get home until 2:30, just in time to talk with during the night feeding. My husband is so enthusiastic for his projects. Anyway, Nathan and I didn't leave Puget Island until 7pm on Monday. Our strategy was leave late so there wouldn't be traffic. It worked, one stop and 4 hours later, we were home...11pm. It was a lovely weekend.
