Sofia's baptism was such a special day. Her Godparents Trisha and Steve, grandparents, Auntie Hailey, cousins, Lorelle and Altenhofen family came to support her. The music and atmosphere at church was so uplifting and joyful. African drums were played to "We are Marching in the Light of God" (Siyahamba). We also sang Praise God From Whom All Blessing Flow, Fill My Cup and We are Many Parts.
During the homily, Fr. Steve asked each of the four parents why we chose our child's name. Nathan shared that Sofia was his great-grandmother's name and Hailey is my sister's name. Sofia was so beautiful in her gown and crotchet sweater. I made her a white with gold tool flower headband. Before the baptisms, Fr. Steve asked the parents, godparents and parishioners if we believe in "God the Father...", and "in His Son Jesus"..."and the Holy Spirit"... When we said "I Do" Sofia let out a baby squeal as though to say, "I do too!" I will tell her later that she professed her faith at 8 months! She cried a little when she was baptised because the water was quite cool. Apparently someone forgot to warm it up. Too bad! She smelled so good from the oil that was placed on her head.
Thank you all for supporting Sofia on her walk with the Lord. Please pray for her. Share your faith in God with her so that she will grow in her faith.
