I feel like I haven't had a good night's sleep in forever! So, it's actually been 5 months since I've slept well and had a normal amount like 7-8 in a row. Being sleep deprived is horrible and I feel for anyone who has sleep problems or a child that makes getting enough sleep impossible. This weekend, Nathan and I hit an all time low. Sofia has been teething, so I've been giving her lots of extra love and "help" falling asleep. Over the past 3 weeks, since the dooling, pulling at her mouth and extra crying started, her sleeping has gotten worse and worse. Before I would feed her once a night and she'd usually fall back to sleep. Now she was waking 3-4 times a night and NOT falling back to sleep. I feel so desperate to get more sleep.
Thanks to many of you I've talked to, I have been trying some different strategies to get this babe sleeping better on her own. One thing that helped was putting her in her own room and moving Linnea in our room for night time sleeping. I was waking at every little squeak and moan, and possibly waking her up more as I tried to shove the binky back in her mouth! I have let her cry a little to see if she would fall back to sleep, which was oppose to because I didn't want Linnea or Nathan to be woken up. She has fallen asleep on her own for the first time this week, hooray! I've also tried to let her fall asleep on her own at naptimes. I guess she's figuring it out. I really appreciated this article I read about parents and their quilty feelings about helping their babies sleep.
