6 lbs 15 oz, 19.5 inches
I couldn’t be happier that I’m not pregnant anymore and I finally have my beautiful little baby girl.  I remember missing be pregnant after Linnea was born, but not this time!  The whole week before Sofia was born, I thought I was starting labor.  Each day I would tell Nathan that it was going to happen that day.  After a few days of nothing happening, he stopped believing me.  He told me that he knew I really was in labor when he heard me moaning in the bathroom at 4 am, which really helps the contractions not feel too bad.  He jokingly called out, “Will you keep in down in there, I’m trying to sleep!”  Ha, ha, very funny, Nathan.  Nathan was a great support and comfort to me.  He sang, rubbed my back, played music and did everything I said, including holding my hair back while I puked.  Labor isn’t a pleasant experience, but thanks to the epidural I had relief from the pain.  We arrived at the hospital at 10:30 and I basically said, “I’m Telia Oines and I want an epidural.”  A very friendly nurse anethisist, Ian, gave me the epidural 2 hours later.  Mom, Dad and Hailey came to be with us for the birth.  They encouraged me and I was so happy to have them witness Sofia’s birth.  Then 8 short hours later at 8pm, I was ready to push Sofia out.  Just a few minutes of pushing and she arrived, just beautiful.  She wasn’t all squished or purple, her skin was pink and she had a lovely round head.   Dr. Johnson said she looked like a C-Section baby because she didn’t look beat up and her head was a normal shape.  She weighed 6 lbs 15 oz and was 19 ½ inches long.  That first moment with Sofia was amazing.  She looked at me and I told her, “You’ll love being in this family.” After seeing how beautiful Sofia was, Nathan said “I guess we’ll at least have to consider having a third.”   Like the last time, our experience at Swedish Hospital was excellent.  The staff took great care of us.  We only stayed one night and were ready to go home by the next evening.  Our family were our only visitors, which actually ended up being good.  Nathan and I had some sweet time by ourselves with Sofia.
