Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge

Hailey loves taking the kids on adventures, so mid-February on our "visit the cousins weekend" we headed towards Lacy on I-5 to see the birds at the Wildlife Refuge.  The Refuge has miles of trails, a visitor center and a mile long board walk that goes out in marshland.  We hiked for about 2 hours, totally nearly 4 miles.  We saw countless ducks, a huge bald eagle and a couple blue herons.  We were so impressed with how well the kids did hiking that far.   Even Eli, who was always about 100 yards behind us, didn't whine much.  Sofia snoozed on my back in the Ergobaby.  We motivated them with yummy food and even resorted to M&Ms at the end of the trip.  Hailey handed out one at time every quarter mile or so.  Kids will do anything for candy!  Sam was our special guest and his family was so kind to lend us their van for the trip.  Thanks Andrea and Jason!
