Linnea started Preschool this week and already loves school. There are all kinds of toys, puzzles, art supplies and playground to explore. Linnea's friend Allison has joined the school too. They love seeing each other and get so wound up with excitement. Monday is my work day, so I got to keep an eye on Linnea and Allison while Sofia played with little sister Lucy. Kelli and I switch babies on our work days. Then Wednesday Kelli looked after them.
So when Thursday came, neither of us were going to be there to keep tabs on the girls. Kelli offered to drop her off for me. It was a busy morning and I hadn't done any shopping for Linnea's lunch, so I sent her with a peanut butter sandwich, banana and a cookie. I packed Linnea's lunch up and sent her off with Kelli. I'm still kicking myself for making this HUGE mistake. I had forgotten there is a strict NO PEANUT rule because of some severe allergies by the teacher and a few kids.
I remembered over an hour after I'd sent her off, so lunchtime was over by then. Too late to change it. When Kelli brought Linnea home I learned that the teacher had to leave school to go to Urgent Care. She'd had a major reaction to the smell of it. She's going to be okay, thank goodness. I feel aweful, so aweful. Now I'm sure the parents are ticked at me. I sent an apology email to the teacher and parents. That evening phone calls and email flew explaining what happened and to remember the no peanut rule. So basically I'm mortified and feel terrible. Boy, did I learn my lesson.
Pay attention, Telia!
So sorry to hear about that! That's the day we were over and added to the chaos before Linnea went to pre-school! Don't feel too bad - it really could happen to ANYONE!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mikki, I'm starting to get over it and the parents have been really kind about it luckily.
