Who Made Dinner Tonight?
When Nathan and I got married we were pretty good at sharing all the household tasks equally. We were both working and going school, so it seemed fair. As we approach our 7 year anniversary July 9th, it is a very different picture. Here's a funny story to show how. So now our roles for VERY defined and we stick to them nearly always. I do all the kid stuff (feeding, clothes, packing, bath, bed, doctor, etc.), laundry, house cleaning, baking...Nathan does finances, garbage, maintenance, grocery shopping and dinner cooking. I love this arrangement! I get great meals out of it and for some strange reason he enjoys shopping at Costco, so I don't have to do the big shopping either. Pretty great, huh! Well Nathan decided he doesn't want to cook every night, what a shame. He is even going to make it easy for me and pick the recipe, which seems to be the hardest part for me. So a week ago I made prawn and sausage paella...so delicious. Honestly, I was very proud. It'd been a LONG time since I'd made a meal from scratch and it was really yummy. So as our meal tradition goes Nathan asked Linnea, "Who made dinner tonight?" I thought it was obvious because she saw me doing it. She coyly pointed to Nathan. "No, not tonight," Then Linnea looked at me. Then she turned to Sofia. Linnea then pointed her finger at Sofia sitting in her highchair! We burst out laughing. Appartently in Linnea's mind the chances of me making dinner was nearly impossible.
